Live Music: Mike Brown

“Brown’s songs, and even his demeanor while performing, simmer with an all-too-human edge that unsettles as much as it thrills—precisely what music should do when it comes from the heart. Where so many musicians working in the country-Americana mold fabricate heartache and wanderlust, Brown doesn’t have to fake it. ”

Live Music: Hot Dogs & Gin

Hot Dogs & Gin.jpg

Band Members:
Doug Hubert (guitar, vocals)
Eamonn Hubert (guitar, vocals)
Steve Shimer (percussion)
Mike Whittemore (keys, harp, guitar, vocals)
Gordie Gottlieb (bass)

We play a wide range of blues and rock covers by the Eagles, Allman Brothers, Bon Jovi, Jimi Hendrix, America, Rolling Stones, G&R, etc. We know-- you're wondering what's with the hot dogs & gin, right? Doug's parents are both retired teachers, and a family friend-- also a teacher-- used to always joke with the kids when the families got together and wanted to know what was for dinner: "How ‘bout some hot dogs and gin?" We think the name accurately describes the four older guys and one elementary school kid who make up the band. Plus, it's just plain fun to say "Hot Dogs & Gin", and who doesn't love those two staples?!

Live Music: Suspect

Dean Benjamin (Drums & vocals)
Don Holloway (Lead guitar & vocals)
Collin Holloway (Bass Guitar, Guitar & vocals)
Danny Lewis (Lead Vocals)
Zach Hamilton (Bass Guitar, Guitars, Keyboards & vocals)

You've never heard classic rock quite like this before. It's been years in the making. Danny Lewis is the lone original member of "Suspect" who played around Elmira in the early 80's. A few years ago he hooked with accomplished local musicians Dean Benjamin (Drums & vocals) and Don Holloway (Lead guitar) and collectively they represent a wealth of talent and experience. Don's son Collin Holloway and Zach Hamilton complete the bands new line up. Their talent and youthful energy coupled with the seasoned musicianship of the others has resulted in a uniquely refreshing sound. The band's collective vocal talent and ability to harmonize lends itself to a genre defying style and diverse, wide-ranging repertoire.
